Topic > Juno's Theme in the Aeneid - 700

She asks her messenger, Iris, to subtly manipulate the Trojan women while she is in Sicily to set fire to the Trojan ships. This course of action can be classified as evil as a trait of Juno. Her multiple attempts to delay Aeneas have failed, yet she wickedly tries her luck again. In vain, the women set fire to the ships, but with Aeneas' prayer to Jupiter, he brings down a storm to put out the flame. His failed attempt to use a minor deity to try to shoot down Aeneas' ships (1.77-83), his failed attempt to produce love artificially (4.112-129), and now his failed attempt to reunite the women has quite overshadowed her success as a goddess
