Indeed, Baumrind suggests that these parents "monitor and impart clear standards for their children's conduct. They are assertive, but not pushy or restrictive. Their disciplinary methods are supportive , rather than punitive. They want their children to be assertive and socially responsible, self-regulating and cooperative" (1991). However, Danny's parent had now communicated a clear standard of conduct for his son regarding playing ball by the window outside the living room on the side of the house. With Danny's parents communicating with Danny in an intrusive and restrictive way about their new ways of disciplining him by offering support when Danny plays ball in the back yard near the window in the living room and when Danny hits the window, the parents reacted in a supportive because they know that Danny was obedient and now with their new insight into authoritative parenting style Danny's parents were able to communicate the appropriate punishment for Danny hitting the window rather than being forced to punish their son. They want their child to understand that he will make mistakes and when they happen they will always be there for him in a supportive way but also as a force forward
