No matter who you are, everyone loves a great love story. There is one love story in particular, that between Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, that is unique when compared to others in history. While it is a story of hope, it is also a story of sadness. There were numerous significant details of their love that stood out the most, as in all such stories. Victoria and Albert's love story was truly great because of the mutual devotion that manifested itself in their love at first sight, in their marriage, in their children, in Albert's death, in Victoria's life without Albert and even in legacy of their love. It was in the United Kingdom, around the year 1839, that Queen Victoria, then a monarch, was actually carrying out her expected duties. What he soon discovered was that a pretty big problem had been raised; Victoria was faced with the possibility of marriage. For the English people, if she had died without having children, the remaining line of succession would have been extremely unfavorable. Before this even happened, Victoria hadn't even paid much attention to the idea of marriage. She deeply valued her independence and feared that marriage would mean the end of that freedom, forcing her to avoid even discussions on the subject. However, Victoria quickly realized that the people wished to see her married and the mother of suitable heirs to the throne. Before fully addressing the idea, however, she was forced to recognize the rules of marriage for nobles. Since Victoria was a member of a royal house, by law, she was only allowed to marry members of other royal houses. Taking this into consideration, he made it known that in matters of marriage; his preference was considered the most important. It was... half the paper... she didn't have much time left. Just four days later, at 6.30pm on 22 January 1901, Queen Victoria died, surrounded by her family, at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. Before she died, however, Victoria made sure to leave very careful orders about how she wanted her funeral and burial to take place. Most of the commands consisted of wanting particular things to be placed in his coffin. Many of the items he requested were Albert's. Dr. Reid carefully placed every item she wanted in the bottom of her coffin; including Albert's dressing gown, a plaster cast of Albert's hand and many different photographs. When finished, Victoria's body was lifted into the coffin, closed and covered with the Union Jack. When she was finally buried, her last wish was granted; she was buried next to Albert, once again with her only love.
