The time children spend watching television takes away the important time they need to develop several skills such as language, creativity and social skills which are very important to develop as as soon as possible. In 1991, Comstock presented television as a vicious tool for children: after spending too much time watching television "they use violence and vulgar language, they will make it a linguistic style." A study showed in 1996 that children who watch cartoons and television programs during preschool age have poorer prereading skills at age 5. A long-term study conducted by the Millennium Cohort Study and published in 2013 found that if a child watches more than 3 hours of television or any type of video media per day they were more likely to have conduction problems. For example, they can easily become addicted and spend more and more time lying on the trainer rather than doing an educational activity, so they are overweight. This is according to the American Medical Association. This seems logical. In fact, most television advertising concerns unhealthy foods that push children to snack. This is why, for example, today food advertisements are followed by advice to eat healthy. In summary, watching television during childhood can become dangerous and seriously alter one's education if used incorrectly and without any moderation, while books cannot produce the same effect.
