2.5% of the population suffers from sleepwalking, except children who suffer from it six times more, but sleepwalking is not at all rare. Sleepwalking usually occurs in children, between the ages of 4 and 7, and usually goes away. If children are asked, very few remember being afraid and having to run, hide, defend themselves from threats, but they do not remember actually doing anything. Adults have very low rates of sleepwalking, and if they do, it's usually because they sleepwalked when they were children and continue to behave this way. A high percentage of sleepwalking adults have been diagnosed with personality disorders such as anxiety, obsessive-compulsive traits, phobias and depression. If older adults are still sleepwalking, they may experience a period of confusion and loss of sensation upon awakening
