The cultural approach to organizations focuses on three types of stories: corporate, personal, and collegial. Corporate stories are those that focus on managing and reinforcing corporate policy. While personal stories are those of the employees and usually represent how they want to be seen within the company. The last are the collegial stories, these stories are positive and negative that are told about others within the environment. The next insight of the theory is rituals. Both Geertz and Pacanowsky share the idea of rituals, texts that reveal multiple aspects of cultural life. Geertz goes on to talk about the Balinese and how they are connected to cockfighting. He interpreted them as: "It's a Balinese reading of the Balinese experience, a story they tell themselves." The insights or ideas of the cultural approach to organization are, what culture is and is not, thick descriptions, metaphors, symbolic stories and rituals. These are all aspects of the theory, but there can be a change within it and it is indeed this theory
