Topic > Opinion on Polygamy - 1845

The husband is human and has feelings. The husband may have a favorite wife and would love the children of the favorite wife. Polygamy makes children sad because they can feel the different love of the father between them and the children of other mothers. Furthermore, they need to see their father love other mothers' children. It's weird and it's bad for kids. There is a woman who is one of 13 children raised by a father and three mothers in a polygamous family in Utah. His brother and sister should love all wives equally even if they know who their biological mother is. His family seems happy, but in reality they are jealous and suffering ("I Grew Up in a Polygamist Family"). Children experience pain in a polygamous family and do not show sad feelings. This means that children cannot receive a proper education in a polygamous family. Furthermore, children cannot know that they love people precisely because their father has many wives. On the other hand, children do not have to feel jealous and stressed about other wives if they are born into a monogamous family, and it is probably beneficial for them to receive adequate care.
