In his essay “The 'Banking' Concept of Education”, John Freire introduces the “problem-posing education” approach. According to him there should be no defined roles between professors and students. The class should become less structured, so that students and the professor can engage in discussions to learn each other's knowledge. According to Freire, “Projecting absolute ignorance onto others, a characteristic of the ideology of oppression, denies education and knowledge as processes of inquiry” (217). This means that true understanding can be understood by everyone in the classroom through conversation, questions and sharing their interpretations. Within this concept, Freire calls for a level playing field. This allows teachers and students to become subjects of the educational process by overcoming authoritarianism. Students with these skills, learned in college, will help society fix itself
