Do you think our managers communicate effectively with their teams? When you hit send in your virtual world of everyday communication, will the recipient actually receive it? By receiving, we mean the act of absorbing information, processing it as required, and responding intelligently. When managers communicate intermittently, their team suffers in many ways, such as meeting deadlines and preparing for meetings and presentations. Simplifying communication in the legal department will improve employee efficiency, facilitate decision-making, and increase department morale. Improving employee efficiency is one of the best ways to improve a company's success and increase revenue. Jeffrey Katezenberg, co-founder of DreamWorks states, “Our philosophy is that if you love your job and you love coming to work, then the work will be great” (6). Tapping into the simplistic idea that content workers create and produce valuable work products allows us to begin the process of creating a happy work environment. Create a culture that is inclusive of all, without privileging managers and those in higher-level positions, which further allows employees to feel rewarded by participating in the company's success. If the employees are not efficient, the company is not efficient. Therefore, the company's revenues suffer in the long term. Most companies are late in allowing team members to have a say, these managers hold on too tightly to controls.
