As our generation continues to progress, technology also takes its course with us. Today's technology can provide excellent help to scholars attending school or even large companies and enterprises. On average, most American schools use textbooks to teach their students. This may be the default method for decades, but it should be changed as technological advances make themselves felt. While it may only be a small portable device, it can make a major impact for its size and can trump an old textbook at any time. Tablets allow students to access many other classroom resources beyond just textbooks. For starters, not only do tablets serve as an alternative to textbooks, but they also serve to replace most classroom supplies and materials needed in school. Imagine no longer running around looking for your textbooks every morning because you know that all your textbooks are stored safely on your portable device. Going to school and class would be a breeze because there would be no hassle or bundles of books to carry. Additionally, it also serves as a resource for students to use. Most tablets contain apps that allow students to access the dictionary, thesaurus, search information, etc. These features will help students and hopefully speed up the process of classroom activities, as the teacher will now not be bombarded with students who need help on the definition of a word, or where to find more information on a certain topic they are currently learning. Second, adding tablets to schools can significantly reduce the costs of necessary paper materials and ease the school's budget. School districts across America have suffered from low budget costs, but if tablets were implemented in schools, the costs for paper sheets and the printing system and they would customize the system to their liking. This clearly shows us that if children in Ethiopia who have little or no knowledge of today's technology can dissect a tablet and "crack the code", then the current generation of students in America who have been engulfed by technology for their entire lives , you can easily access the device and make full use of its features. In conclusion, it is clear that it is time to live in the future. Tablets have so many options and resources that can enhance students' learning experience by helping them with homework and research projects, to even allowing them to write their own essays. If we were to stick to the default ways of using textbooks, our generation would never fully experience our generation's great invention. That said, when will the change go into effect for tablets, if at all?
