After the conclusion of the dangerous Second World War, America prepared for a period of peace. This peacetime was short-lived, as American tolerance of communism waned and this issue became America's primary concern. The United States of America, also called the USA or United States, considered communism a strategic threat because of its hostility to private property and free markets, policies that many Americans directly associate with political freedom. During the intense historical period identified as the Cold War, America's attention was, for the most part, politically and economically occupied with the threat of global expansion of the left and methods aimed at preventing such an event. McCarthyism, the Marshal Plan and the Truman Doctrine are some of the tactics employed by the United States as a defense tool. form of resistance against communism. The constant fear of communism intensified largely following the declaration of China's political status, the Korean War, and the Rosevelt case. Julius and Ethel Rosevelt were tried and convicted of treason to the state in the early 1940s.
