In A Raisin in the Sun, Walter continues to search for a way to put his family in a better financial position. In Everyday Use, Mom saved up her money so Dee could go to school, in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Mr. Banks becomes a judge and is able to provide for his family. Finally in Blackish, Mr. Johnson becomes an advertising executive after a difficult upbringing to provide a better life for his family. America's historical impact has influenced the writers of every story. The pre-Civil Rights Movement influenced A Raisin in the Sun, the Civil Rights Movement influenced Everyday Use, and the post-Civil Rights Movement greatly influenced The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Blackish. Each family had different opportunities in life due to laws passed during or before their time. The educational opportunities provided by each family to their income. In A Raisin in the Sun and Everyday Use, the head of the family received little to no education and that was why the families were so poor. Then, once the civil rights movement began and more opportunities were provided to African Americans, literature and media began to describe this change. This is why the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Blackish families are more successful and have had more opportunities to do so
