In the forest. In the novel 'In the Forest' the two main characters, Nell and Eva, have lived together all their lives. Although they grew up together in the same remote place with the same parents, they developed unique personalities and outlooks on life. In the early stages of the novel there are little things that differentiate the two girls. For example, Nell wants to be thrifty, save and preserve things, while Eva is willing to use things to do something, her thoughts are not in the future but in the present. This later changes to some extent when they realize that they need these things to survive. An example of this is when they discover that there are only four matches left in the box. They frantically searched to find more, they found some but it taught them a lesson on how to survive...
