Industrial companies; a place where meat is produced for human consumption, this definition only describes how the industry began. Most factory farms lack government regulation. This is to the detriment of billions of animals affected by this dirty business. When the piglets are born they are divided into breeding sows and others exclusively for meat. Thousands of sows spend their lives in crammed cages, undergo numerous forced inseminations and become ill because their cages are overflowing with faeces. However this is only the beginning of the story. These same animals are fed food full of growth hormones, glass, syringes and are forced into cannibalistic methods when fed the testicles of their young. Animals in the livestock industry face countless atrocities including painful slaughter, forced growth rates and overcrowding for taste reasons, however each of these issues must be resolved by enforcing the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act and switching to sustainable methods and/or methods of organic farming. In every industry, from clothing to tools, owners want to make a profit. The more they can supply with the least amount of waste, the more profit they will make. The same goes for factory farming.
