Most high schools in South Korea ask students to choose a college where students can go based on their high school academic grades by the end of their freshman year high school. The high school curriculum is almost done by the end of freshman year, so students can only focus on preparing for a college admissions test. People in South Korea believe that their children must have a college degree in order to belong to the middle class in the future. College enrollment of South Korean high school graduates exceeds 80% and is the highest among 32 OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) member countries in 2011. (Kim 35) Parents and Teachers in Korea in the South, strong pressure students go to college because people think it's the right way to succeed. Students may have a different opinion about how he or she can achieve a successful life. Unfortunately, they believe that the guidance provided by parents and teachers is the best path for them.
