Topic > The Millennium Development Goals - 791

In 2000, the United Nations set the goal of ending hunger, poverty and unfair living for people around the world, not just in the United States. This idea was called the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). In taking on a task like this, the United Nations wanted to break down the goals into sections of eight to better categorize them so as to use every resource at their disposal to make this plan possible. Not all catgeroys had the same plan in place and for this very reason these goals were not something to be achieved overnight, hence the name of the idea which started with millennium. The United Nations is also known for its work to bring its members and countries together to work towards its goals of maintaining peace and security. They wanted to protect human rights by providing humanitarian assistance and aiding economic and social development around the world. This gives us a better idea of the purpose of the MDG project and how it was created. One MDG that can be achieved through technological development, innovation or implementation is the second of the eight, namely Universal Education. This goal was important because it was believed that through education, future members of society will have the ability to reduce or end poverty in the world and will help bring about global peace and security. This goal can be achieved by technological development by introducing computers to countries that do not have access to these tools as other countries would. The addition of intelligent computers would better resource students and teachers who teach, thus achieving the MDG of universal education. A goal like this would not need innovation but to be implemented. A goal like this should be an idea brought… middle of paper… the other person knows. Universal education integrates the world because it makes us be considered as one. What is meant by this is that the MDG is a mission pursued by the United Nations because they have the resources to achieve it. Like the type of education most of them have reviewed versus the education of those they seek to help. It cannot be said for sure that other countries are not better in terms of education for their citizens, but in terms of universal education, this is something that is free for people in countries and free for people in other countries, which tells the United Nations that although education is out there for the public it is not something everyone can or has taken advantage of. With the implementation of computers and the innovation of free education we can bring the world and society closer to a set of people where everyone is educated.
