Social problemThe problem that our policy aims to address is the lack of affordable health insurance, as well as the lack of affordable health insurance for people with pre-existing health conditions. the social problem reaches numbers of people and populations in the United States. More than 50 million people live without health insurance in the United States, which equates to approximately 16.7% of the population, or one in six U.S. residents (Wolf, 2010). Accessibility to healthcare through affordable health insurance would be considered more than a civil right, but a human rights issue. This issue also touches on one of America's key social values, namely social responsibility. The value is self-descriptive and opposes the competing American social value of individualism.
