The Fellowship of Christian Athletes In my high school days, one day a month was dedicated to student-led clubs. In these so called club days, most of the kids go to any club just to get out of class. Some exclusive clubs, like the chess club, would despise this. These groups gladly kicked some kids, but there was one club happy to see everyone who came: the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The little exposure to Christianity found in this club was all some kids would get, and the moderators of my school's club knew it. Little by little, this is FCA's national goal: to change the world so that it knows Jesus Christ. This nonprofit organization is responsible for everything from small club meetings in middle schools, high schools and colleges to large summer camps. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes website lists the group's mission as presenting the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and church fellowship with athletes, coaches and all those they influence (FCA ). Whether on the field or in a group Bible study, FCA is focused on this mission. The main FCA website is www.fca.org. This site is very well done and contains a wealth of information, such as the organization's values: "Our relationships will demonstrate an ongoing commitment to Jesus Christ and His Word through integrity, service, teamwork and excellence. " FCA's integrity goal is that we will demonstrate Christ-like integrity, in private and in public. With the goal of serving, we will model Jesus' example of service. As for teamwork, we will express our unity in Christ in all our relationships. Finally, quintessential: We will honor and glorify God in all we do (FCA). FCA's blunt style of doctrine is quite effective. Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has challenged coaches and athletes at the professional, college, high school, middle school and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is the largest interdenominational, school-based Christian sports organization in America. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.
