We are all born the same: as human beings, and therefore we deserve the same rights and the same acceptance as long as we all respect the laws and comply with the rules established to protect all individuals. But throughout history, some groups of people have faced discrimination, segregation and injustice because they belong to a specific race, skin color and/or culture that some of us consider to be part of an inferior category of human beings, as well as the fact of having different beliefs and ideals along with preferences when it comes to things like gender and lifestyle choice. My only question is how an individual or a society as a whole gets to the point of producing enmity towards others who do not have the same sexual orientation as them and how they can reject and disagree with the changes that define gender identity that happen all over the world. time. Acceptance towards individuals labeled as gay or lesbian tends to be denied and excused as immoral and religiously sinful. These beings face many difficulties throughout their lives regarding being recognized as "equal" to the rest of society and are often denied certain rights including marriage, adoption of children, life in certain communities and possibility of receiving other benefits such as recognition by the government. when it comes to civil unions between same-sex couples. They often face verbal, psychological or physical attacks which have led to many bloodbaths in which many of their lives have been taken. Usually, when they are physically injured with adherent wounds that settle not only in their soul but also in their psyche, it tends to lead them to attempt to harm themselves sometimes to the point of taking their own life. This controversial issue is not the focus of attention and I am unable to associate with others who have different beliefs, as Scott James explains in his article “Greying and Gay, and Finding a Home." We are all the same and therefore we should all be treated as such. Works Cited Badgett, MV Lee. "What Obama Should Do About Workplace Discrimination." The New York Times. Network. 6 February 2012.
