Physical education allows students to relax and replenish their energy, while athletics teaches the intangible aspects of discipline, effort and grit. However, neither of them has a place at school. We don't need an economic expert to predict that America will soon lose its position as the world's largest economy. China is in hot pursuit and India is not far behind. There's no need to panic, though, because as Dr. Carson says, “All we have to do is remember what our real responsibilities are so we can solve the problems [facing our nation].” This is all I suggest, nothing radical, nothing illogical; let's keep schools simply a place of learning. We teach our students that their primary responsibility is to become educated citizens of the nation. Let us work collectively to return America to its place of unprecedented success and progress, and the critical first step in doing so is to reevaluate, reorient, and recharge our education system.
