Ever since I was a child I have had a passion for doing other people's hair. When I was little I used my dolls as clients and worked on their hair until it was perfect and neat. I chose to work in the field of cosmetology because I enjoy helping other people with their needs and wants as well as my own. I am aware that as I work in this industry I will be working with many different ethnic groups and many different hair types. I feel like I can do anything as long as I have the determination to do it. Many people go to cosmetology school to work for someone else, but I would love to open a mini-salon out of my home someday. I have many talents and interests that will help me succeed in the cosmetology field, such as communication skills, business skills, sense of creativity and technical skills. Many people enroll in hair school to learn the basic foundational skills to become an exceptional candidate in the industry. The creative skills, business skills and communication skills of a cosmetologist must be very effective. Other skills are also required, but without basic skills a cosmetologist will not be successful in the industry. How can you run a business without knowing the basics? How can you work on someone's head without knowing what style would suit their face perfectly? As a cosmetologist sometimes you have to let your client know that it's okay to try new styles and that not everything will always work on them. As new trends are invented or begin to re-emerge from previous years, you will need to stay updated. The evolution of cosmetology can easily be traced back to the times of civilization. As early as 10,000 BC, both men and women in Egypt often used oils to hide bad odors from their bodies. Also, ...... middle of the paper ...... up. Treatments should be applied to the hair as protectants before chemicals are added because they can cause serious damage to healthy hair. If the hair is not treated properly with the addition of different chemicals such as relaxers or dyes, the hair can easily become dry, brittle and create many split ends all over the hair, even going all the way back to the roots. While I was doing my research paper I encountered some difficulties because I didn't stick to one topic in the field of cosmetology such as hairstyle, hair coloring, nails and even hair cutting, so I had to research even more difficult, but there's nothing wrong with challenging yourself sometimes. Someday I may decide to change my mind about working in cosmetology, but for now I will stick to my main career goal. I lost a lot of interest during the weeks of working on my senior project.
