Another reason why individual therapy would be better is because in group therapy, due to a large group of people, the therapist may not pick up on the nonverbal cues of the patient. In contrast, in individual therapy the therapist can pick up on signs from the patient that they may not feel comfortable or want to participate in the therapy session. In a group setting, therapists cannot devote long periods of time to an individual while the room is full of people. If a client had a family and individual therapist, I think it would be beneficial to them. Seeing a family and individual therapist offers benefits such as different perspectives, environment, and therapeutic exercises.
