Social process theories are the process of interaction between individuals and society for their explanatory power. In other words, a theory in which individuals feel that society does not help them leave useful lives. Some of the theories within the social process are social learning theory, social control theory, and labeling theory. Social learning theory focuses on what an individual learns by observing others in society. Social control theory focuses on the bond between people that will determine how that individual will act. Labeling theory is when society gives labels to criminals that can cause them to behave like criminals even when they may not be criminals. Social learning theory is defined as when an individual learns how to act from society and what others teach that individual. Some people believe that crime is learned from others by watching them commit crimes. When it comes to social learning theory, some of the topics within the theory are whether individuals actually learn their own behavior by watching others. As a child you grow up acting out and following what others around you did, some children were exposed to crime as children and will have a greater chance of becoming criminals. We have all learned our behavior by observing our family members and how society uses their opinions to influence the way we act. In the documentary Devil's Playground, Amish teenagers grew up in an Amish community but were then given the choice to either adhere to Western views or remain with the Amish community. Amish Church. As teenagers came into contact with Western society, they were exposed to drugs and alcohol, leading some to commit crimes and put their lives at risk. Proving that when young teenagers are exposed to society for the first time they will have a greater chance of committing crimes... middle of paper... he is at home because his crimes have caught up with him. People wanted him killed because he was snitching on other drug dealers. Because his society recognized him as a criminal, he was forced to move to another state where he was given the chance to start over. Not everyone is given this option to start over and because they cannot find a career due to their label, they are forced to commit crimes again to get by. Most people who commit crimes learned it from another person, but ultimately it is their choice that they committed the crime. Since they chose to commit the crime, they have to face the consequences, not everyone will be able to recover from a life of crime due to the labeling that society places on them. The people they hang out with are the ones who thought he committed the crime and were unable to control their self control when it comes to committing the crimes.
