Adolescence is characterized by rapid physical, intellectual, emotional, and psychological changes, as well as the development of healthy and risky behaviors that can last throughout the individual's life (Banspach, et al., 2016). This transition may begin early in some individuals during the pre-adolescent period, in the later part of the competence stage, often presented with pronounced physical changes in sexual maturation, skeletal growth, and body composition. As physical appearance matures, navigation occurs through changing social norms and expectations, often requiring confrontation and reorganization of identity and self-perception (Mendle, Turkheimer, & Emery, 2007). During this process the individual works towards the acceptance of others and equally seeks acceptance as validation towards personal identification. Failure to define identity creates confusion and often leads to experimenting with different lifestyles to gain a sense of identity
