Democracy emphasizes the equality of all individuals and insists that all men are created equal. Democracy does not insist on equality of conditions for all people nor does it hold that all people are entitled to an equal share of worldly goods. Rather, his concept of equality insists that everyone has the right to equality of opportunity and equality before the law. The democratic concept of equality holds that no person should be held back for arbitrary reasons such as those based on race, color, religion, or gender. This concept of equality holds that each person should be free to develop as fully as possible or desired, and that each person should be treated as equal to all other people by law. We have come a long way towards achieving the goal of equality for all in this country, but as close as we are we are still a considerable distance away from truly universally recognized and respected equality for all. I will go into more detail giving more information and making it clear that I understand equality and civil rights for all and it affects everyone. The Declaration of Independence was written on July 4, 1776. On that day the 13 Colonies became Free and Independent States. The Declaration of Independence states this: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to modify or abolish it, and... by way of paper... to the problems existing for many minority groups which eventually changed over time, even if such changes may have taken a long time. Many people who have died, may have wished they had witnessed the day when no matter what your race, color or creed, they wished they were here today. However today there still exist small discriminations related to race, color, sex, national origin, religion, creed, age, marital status, sexual orientation, sad to say, but we are not at that point yet, everyone has the right to equal protection under the law. No one ever believed we would have a black president (commander and head of the US military) and we have one now President Barrack Obama, change is always good when it's for the people as far as equal rights and justice for all .Works citedThe challenge of democracy
