Getting an education is essential to becoming a good social worker. Social workers need cultural competency to work with all types of populations, including people of different ethnicities, races, genders, sexual identities, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic statuses. At this point I choose to work in foster care and adoption, so I will advocate for that population in every way I can because that is my job. I could potentially work with a same-sex couple looking to foster or adopt, and I will do my best to advocate for them so they can do so. I work in a religious organization, so I'm ready to fight for them. If you choose to be a person who could potentially work with an LGBT person, you must be prepared to support and work with that person.
