Since it all comes down to money, cutting the military budget by the pentagram helps improve our economy. “In the short run, military spending can be a source of both physical security and economic stimulus. In the long term, this can be counterproductive in terms of physical security and constitute a dead weight for the economy” (Dumas). This is a key thing to note because we have spent so many years giving the military huge budgets to spend. We, as a people, give the government this power and, ultimately, they decide to use it on military spending. Things like the previously mentioned nuclear war are necessary for the future, but if it is considered a last resort, why is it necessary to continually increase the budget of the nuclear program? The problem also with the military is that it is now considered an overload because the economy is supposed to provide for the material well-being of the population as a whole (Dumas). To solve this problem we must reduce military funding and direct it to programs that improve the economy such as the Department of Education and the Department of Housing and Zoning. If we get better education, there will be more job opportunities available for people. When people find better paying jobs, there won't be a huge swath of low-income masses having to survive paycheck to paycheck. That said, there will be better housing opportunities and crime rates will also increase
