Procurement in the main stream of business is to ensure that organizations have the appropriate needs for the supplier selection process. Procurement within an organization helps to develop the right tools needed in selecting and maintaining performance criteria, speciation and defines the terms and conditions in an organization. As established by the company, the company's purchasing area transmits and develops the necessary values and mission with an internal organization. By further analyzing the importance of procurement we can determine alternative methods to procurement, the methods needed to keep procurement in order, and the overall value of procurement with project management. Procurement within a project can help organizations create and develop the right elements needed to procure goods and services. In this way, the organization can help streamline the purchasing process, while ensuring that the goods and services adhere to current market conditions. As stated by Sollish and Semanik (2012) “Supply and demand continually drive the process up and down. As economic conditions change, demand increases or decreases, generating shortages or excess supply, or decreasing demand (or combinations) generally lead to lower prices. Understanding the market provides the organization with the knowledge needed to make the right purchasing decisions. Ultimately, the organization has the purchasing power to take advantage of lower prices in the markets. It also gives organizations the ability to negotiate prices with suppliers to reduce or maintain costs.
