Rowling, Harry must expel the evil serpent figure from Bathilda's innocent body. The snake possesses the body to lure Harry towards him, and Harry falls for the trick. Once Harry realizes that the snake is inside Bathilda, Harry defends himself from it and defeats the snake in an attempt to kill the hero. Finally, the fight against the serpent foreshadows that Harry will always defend himself from evil and preside over evil figures. The story alludes to the biblical passage of “Matthew 8:28-34” where Jesus expels demons from two innocent men. The two demons possess the bodies of two men to bring evil to the city. However, Jesus arrives and uses his spiritual power to expel evil demons from men. The exorcism demonstrates that Jesus will always reign over evil and have the absolute final judgement. Overall, between the two stories, there is the possession of a body, a hero fighting against evil figures, and a foreshadowing of the final encounter between evil and evil.
