The Freedom writers touched on many issues that happened in the 90's and are unfortunately still happening today. Freedom Writers has inspired me to approach my counseling ministry in a new way. One approach to counseling that I plan to use was inspired by this film. I plan to implement journaling into my sessions with clients as a method of reflection for them. The effect that journaling had on students opening up to the teacher was impactful. I believe keeping a journal will not only help those I serve, but will also give me greater insight than my client
