Is our education system inept and overbearing? Regurgitation, hypocrisy, selfishness and incompetence, all these words could be attributes of what makes the California school system. Many people would put their trust in this immediately and without hesitation or second thoughts because of what they have experienced with California schools. Some schools are capable of being sensible enough to avoid some of these titles, while others claim them all and exercise them simultaneously. This is something we Americans and Californians resent about the system that governs us. First, what is education? Not many people get to ask themselves this question. Or maybe they can't answer this question? Our modern deep thinkers or philosophers have an answer but they just don't want to bring it up. Now, why should they be afraid to answer this question in their heartfelt honesty? Because it could compromise their paycheck, because students will ask to be able to participate in more practical activities. Why would they want to because the correct answer to what is education is a simple seven letter word, passion. You see, for a person to become truly educated they must find something that they truly love and are passionate about, if they are not passionate about it then they are not truly putting all their skills into something. They are actually half-committed to whatever they are doing. People always ask young people, "Why do you think you'll do better in college than in high school?" The answer is actually very simple. We will do something we care about, something we love, something we are PASSIONATE about! Think back to when… halfway through the paper… you got it working. The point is in education. The system out approach is very wrong. All we do is fill the minds of our young people with knowledge, crystallized intelligence: they know the facts but have no real skills. While children who are skilled in fluid intelligence are doomed to social failure because they are better at impulsive or pre-planned problem solving rather than being skilled in factual knowledge. We will not experience true education because we have no practical experience and are not inspired to be something bigger, better and greater. We are not forced to expand our comfort zones, we are not aware of the real world where we are taught things we will never use. We are failing because we are failing. We need help and the help of someone who truly cares about more than just personal gain. We need better change ASAP.
