Another leadership behavior I rarely do is ask the question “what can we learn?” when things don't go as planned. This also goes back to policy and procedure. Usually when things don't go as planned it's because I missed a step somewhere along the way. Whenever the error becomes apparent, the question answers itself and can be easily corrected. The Coast Guard already has a system capable of doing this. Maintenance Resource Management (MRM) is a system that brings together a number of people from all different levels and talks about maintenance incidents, what went wrong and how we can prevent the same thing from happening again. I could become more actively involved in the MRM process and even become a facilitator. I'm already involved in preparing things like the unit's incident plan and instrument check program. I feel like I do a good job of making the changes necessary to make each of these
