This project serves to reduce disparities in access to technology and enable staff, students and families to effectively use communication, collaboration and training tools for academic, personal and professional. This “Blueprint for the Future” seeks to expand our notion of learning environments to encompass more than the physical space of the school, but also considers the evolution of the network as a “platform” and embraces the community as essential contributors and participants to the educational experience. Imagine for a minute what a typical school day at Roosevelt might look like if this vision became a reality. When students arrive in the morning with their mobile devices, students review the main lessons (English, math, science, history and language arts). These shortened mini periods allow students to access and collaborate on a comprehensive digital curriculum available through the suite of web-based resources found in the Ed Box curriculum management system. The teacher is a facilitator and works seamlessly with the system and students to present new topics and assess understanding. Teachers in classrooms roam to assist students individually as they work on their mobile devices and work in small groups to navigate through the curriculum. These students skillfully transition between the various resources provided via the student portal, tracking progress via data provided on the intuitive dashboard console. As they transition into lunch, they are actively checking email, catching up on the latest posts from their language arts classmates, uploading their recent math assignment to their teachers' mailbox, and of course, watching highlights from last night's basketball game at moment…middle of the paper…worked out solutions and strategies that ultimately contribute to higher levels of student learning and success. Access – Develop and implement a technology model for staff and students that provides “just in time” access to technology and resources, i.e. improved technology for teachers, modern laboratory facilities with flexible hours, mobile/flexible technology for students including strategic web access .Connect: Provides intuitive tools for schools, teachers, students and parents to communicate, collaborate and access relevant educational resources. for example, electronic gradebook, curriculum planning, online learning, web portal, and UM resources. Engagement: Ensure that parents and key stakeholders or informed consumers and capable users of technology tools and resources, i.e. adult education opportunities, community partnerships and capacity building.
