Topic > Never Marry a Mexican Only Child by Sandra Cisneros
She writes characters who can be more than just a wife and mother. Women who can be educated do not have to marry at all and can even be promiscuous and cold-hearted. Sandra pushes gender roles and cultural barriers. Sandra's writings give women of all cultures the opportunity to create their own identity and expectations. He uses his Mexican-American culture to express this. The female protagonist manages to bend the traditions of her own culture but ends up not feeling so great afterwards. Breaking traditional views feels wrong for the protagonist, who is left searching for approval and sentiment
