The Book of Exodus begins hundreds of years later, when Joseph and his brothers all died. This leaves a void in leadership over Israel and they are eventually subjugated to Moses. He is a Jewish boy who begins as a slave and eventually meets God through the burning bush where he is convinced to take on the role of leader of the Israelites. With the help of his brother Aaron, they face the controversy with the Pharaoh of Egypt who seeks to liberate their people and lead them to a land full of prosperity, which God has promised. It is through Moses' guidance that they find religious freedom and conformity as a community. Although Moses is initially shy, he subsequently develops the willpower of a traditional hero by achieving a personal relationship with God and his people through breaking clay tablets and using the power God gave him through his staff to intimidate the Pharaoh and show his urgency and pride as the leader of a great nation. In one of his first conversations with God, Moses exposes his weak self-esteem and lack of confidence. After receiving orders from God, Moses states, “Even the Israelites don't listen to me, so why should the king? I am a terrible orator" (Exodus, 60). Finding himself in a river as a Jewish child, the author of the text seems to integrate the fact that his parents' lack of knowledge of Moses seems to convey the fact that he does not know his place in society. As the central character of the text, she seems more fragile than strong as her Jewish background demands it. After killing an Egyptian, he runs away and becomes a shepherd. This is a great example of fear of Egyptian power and not having the initial ambition to be someone with great potential as God ultimately suggests. Du...... middle of paper ......ng God but instead wants to resurrect the faith that his people gave up once they took part in the calf erection and forgot God. His success as a leader it is shown in the final parts of the text where he asks his people to build God a tabernacle and to donate gold, silver and other precious objects for sacrifice. It is evident in the text that Moses sets himself up as a magnificent leader. on the Israelites. At the beginning of the text, the author is able to show Moses' human flaws when he backs down from God's challenge to be a leader but ultimately finds the strength to lead his people and convey God's message through his own actions. He has come a long way to prove his effectiveness as a leader. He begins to accept the blame of others and overcomes all his personal flaws because he is motivated by the responsibilities entrusted to him.
