ACPA Ambassador Application1. Why are you applying to become an Ambassador? What do you hope to gain from this experience? I am applying to become an ACPA ambassador and serve as a liaison between Clemson University and the ACPA. I am also running because Dr. Havice (the head of our student affairs department) thought I would be a great fit as an ambassador representing Clemson University. This same sentiment was echoed by another professor in our leadership department here at Clemson. If I am selected as an ambassador, I hope this role will provide me with the opportunity to make connections between Clemson and the ACPA community; both at a regional and national level. Additionally, I hope this experience will provide me with networking opportunities with other students with career aspirations in student affairs. I also envision this role as providing me with a platform to foster better communication between students in my doctoral program and students in Clemson's master's in student affairs program.2. How would you work to connect ACPA with other graduate students and new professionals at your institution? To connect ACPA with other students and new professionals here at Clemson, I would first create a listserv that includes all students in our student affairs program and our higher education doctoral program. Additionally, I would also include new student affairs professionals. This listserv would be used to send weekly or biweekly communications to ensure information from the ACPA is funneled to Clemson University. Second, I would like to ensure that everyone on my campus understands the vision and mission of ACPA, as well as understands the importance of joining the association. Also, I would make sure that other graduate students and ne...... half of the document ......f committee/listserv/network? If so, are you a member or are you able to solicit and disseminate information to this group? If not, would you be willing to start one? Yes, Clemson has a listserv for all doctoral students in the educational leadership department, but this listserv does not include students in the master's program in student affairs. As it stands, there is very little communication between the two programs. I am a member of the PhD listserv, I could use the list as a tool to disseminate information as an ACPA ambassador. However, I think the benefits of creating a new listserv are much greater. By doing so, I could appeal to all students in the student affairs/student affairs program with aspirations of working in student affairs in the doctoral program, along with new student affairs professionals here at Clemson. This method would be more strategic in my opinion.
