Analise looked out the car window on the way to school. The sun wasn't up yet, but the weatherman said it would be a sunny day. He was afraid to get to his little school, to his little town, to his little state of Rhode Island. It was a quiet town and not much happened, but word traveled fast. If the Wisner's air conditioning didn't work, for example, the entire city would know by the end of the day, along with who would fix it and how much it would cost. “I hope you had a nice day at school!” his mother cheered, peering through the rearview mirror. Ana quickly snapped out of her mood, smiled big, and replied, “Thank you, Mom. I will." Her mother was her best friend, but she didn't know how bad things were at school. Analise walked into class and sat down in her seat, right in the center of the room. She had hoped that sitting there would make her come noticed, but despite her unusually bright red hair and abundance of freckles, she was amazed at how few people could say her name, if asked, in a town where everyone knows everyone. She overheard some of the other children's conversations , since he didn't have one of his own. "Do you want to come to us after school?" "Of course, but I have to ask my father, right?" He put his chin in his hands and wondered how people could have such silly conversations while his teacher, Mrs. Finkler, began lecturing on proper classroom hygiene. Apparently the boys had argued over toilet paper in the bathroom again. Analise's mind began to wonder. I swear that one day I will escape from this place. I will run and run and never look back. I will keep running until I get to a big city with lots of people and lots of friends. Ana often thought this way, but deep down she knew that I would... middle of paper... go to school a few minutes early. He was wearing his usual t-shirt and jeans. As he walked down the hall he no longer heard mean names. No one tried to knock her down or embarrass her. Instead he heard a "Hello" or a "Hello" from every few people he passed. He said hello to all of them. Why is everyone so nice today? I think. She met Zack and his friends, who had everything, she started to like them. The day passed normally, at least normal for everyone except Analise, who loved her new life. Every day Ana went to school more and more people talked to her. Now that they noticed it, they realized it wasn't that bad. He started making more and more friends. He forgot about all the bad things that had happened and just focused on how great things were at that moment. Analise knew that after everything that had happened, everything would be okay.
