Topic > Malnutrition, Poverty and Child Intellectual Development

It was interesting to read how the authors conducted the study, the results and even the follow-up to the study. While the text provided little information regarding this project, the graphics hit the mark. The graphs opened my eyes to nutrition in Guatemala. The graph shows that if children received the necessary nutrients, they scored the same on vocabulary tests, regardless of the degree of poverty. Unfortunately, those who were in more severe poverty and received lower than normal nutrients had low scores (Brown and Pollit, 2014, p. 40). I believe this chart simply demonstrates to me and readers that it is important to get the right amount of nutrients to be successful in the classroom, regardless of your family's financial situation
