They may argue that better technology, later start times, or a change in curriculum are more essential to an ideal education. For example, later start times are better for student health because teenagers don't get enough sleep due to their changing sleep cycles. Better technology can help children learn much more deeply than before. A change in curriculum can help get children interested in subjects they've never had before. While it is true that they would help children have a more ideal educational experience, an admirable teacher is still much more important. Good teachers can ensure a good future for their students, unlike better technology, later start times, or a change in curriculum. For example, in the second part of the research, Chetty, Friedman, and Rockoff observed the long-term effects of a teacher with a high VA. Students who get teachers with high VA tend to live better lives and earn more. “In the second part of our study, we analyze whether teachers with high VA also improve long-term student outcomes. We find that students assigned to higher-level VA teachers are more successful in many aspects. They are more likely to attend college, earn higher wages, live in better neighborhoods and save more for retirement. They are also less likely to have children as teenagers… replacing a teacher whose estimated VA, based on three years of data, is within the norm
