With the fear that the cartels instilled in civilians in Mexico, the United States stepped in to help its neighboring country. In many cases Mexican civilians have had to move for their safety; “people move after their source of income has declined or become less sustainable due to… [cartel] violence and insecurity” (Albuja 29.) The Mexican Army and United States Marines joined to create security for civilians in Mexico. Both the Marines and the military rule the streets of specific parts of the country where it is most terrorized by the cartels. It has been proven that when the military or marines make their round trip, the cartels leave. In order for the United States to help civilians, it must send more marines to help the Mexican army and drive through the streets of
