Many individuals, especially psychologists, wonder how they can describe a person's personality using theories so that society can understand why people behave in a certain way. There have been many debates regarding this question. Some psychologists say that genetics is one of the main factors why people react in a certain way, depending on the circumstances. However, other researchers indicate that the environment plays a huge role on the individual. While both of these predictions may be accurate, it will not be possible to fully understand them unless there is additional information linked to their arguments. According to the trait theories contained in the Psychology book, there are multiple theories that explain different types of possibilities for these behaviors, two of them are called Trait Theory and Social-Cognitive Theory. Based on the information provided in the textbook, trait theory states that each individual has different personalities due to traits inherited from maternal or paternal DNA. For example, if a child or adult is shy or talkative, it is possible to observe the person's conscious thoughts and behaviors; therefore, it can be implied that traits are essential when they apply to an individual's personality, which is why everyone's personality is different. Foreign psychologists Hans Eysenck and Sybil Eysenck designed a map full of different qualities to identify various personality types. In fact, these categories indicate whether the person is considered extroverted, stable, introverted and unstable. For example, a person considered introverted-stable is considered peaceful, thoughtful and calm. On the other hand, a stable extrovert is seen as someone who is… halfway… gone to high school, back to my old self. Something inside me triggered and made me realize that education was my only option to succeed. However, I have become more distant from my old friends, especially the people I talked to in high school. Furthermore, this change is associated with one of the researcher's studies. Where indicates that one's personality changes with age. From the factor analysis I can identify myself as an introverted and unstable person. Because of the environment I am surrounded by, being a college student has changed my perspective and behavior. I have become more anxious, but at the same time I can be reserved. Based on this theory, I can conclude that I control my destiny and not that of others. I have not found myself in a situation where other people control my daily decisions. Social cognitive theory best describes my personality and behavior.
