Furthermore, anticipating and understanding the preferred desires of target consumers when developing smart refrigerators is an equally important factor. The four market segments (category, energy efficiency, aesthetics, functionality and technology) should appeal in a concise and applicable way. As the consumer is becoming more and more aware of the amount of electricity consumption used in their home, the energy efficient refrigerator will play a complex role in an individual's purchasing decision. There may come a time when consumers, regardless of disposable household income, may want and purchase smart refrigerators that will complement their busy lifestyles. However, as history has shown in the past with innovative technologies (smartphones, mobile devices, etc.), the price of smart refrigerators will decrease.
