Topic > The Forgiveness Model - 1322

Forgiveness is defined as a change, in which the victim rejects “negative feelings” (Holmgren 32) towards the transgressor. For many people, forgiveness is the response to a mistake they have made. Human relationships break down when wrong behaviors are committed against each other, and since this is the case, people respond to the question of forgiveness in many different ways. If a relative is killed in an earthquake, the person who suffered the loss “will feel deep sorrow” (Holmgren 8). However, the feeling of “moral anger is more reflected” (Holmgren 8) when the person is a murderer. “Resentment and moral anger” (Holmgren 8) become the source of harm to the person who lost the life of someone they loved. Wars, theft, rape, sexual abuse and terrorism are the most common atrocities in the world, where people take time to forgive. Wrong execution of these actions causes mental harm to the victims at a high level. So time is one of the great therapies for understanding error. The offender will have to obtain “reacceptance or reinstatement” (Holmgren 261) due to guilt for his action. The book The Sunflower by Wiesenthal is an example of war, where a kind of forgiveness is shown, but self-forgiveness needs inner healing, a healthier mindset, a cleaner soul and a spirit healthier. Simon Wiesenthal's book, The Sunflower, brings up the question of forgiveness through the lens of a Jew. Wiesenthal, who is Jewish, is approached one day by a former Nazi soldier named Karl, who ends up begging Wiesenthal for forgiveness. Wiesenthal is taken from his work and sent to a hospital room, where Karl lies taking his last breaths. Karl has repented of his past sins and wishes to confess his crimes to Wiesenthal. So, K...... middle of paper ......s. In the world there are different ways to forgive, but above all the thoughts of the spirit govern. People believe in the strength of power and this will be the best judge of our actions on earth. But when victims are actually harmed because of the evil committed, people do not allow forgiveness to heal their minds and hearts. According to therapeutic techniques, people can defeat “the thought of anger” through their “mental and spiritual beliefs” (Menahem 830). People should let go of what they have done, so they will find the repentance needed to forgive anything in their life. People should choose repentance and forgiveness because the healed heart becomes real in spirit and mind. Overcoming thoughts of anger and guilt in religions means believing and forgiving “oneself and others” (Escher). Life seeks mercy and imminent repentance for itself and others, so that people can obtain it through spiritual deliverance.
