Topic > Life in a Planned Economy - 2014

Living in a planned or planned economy would be a strange experience indeed, as I have lived in a nation that uses a free market economic status my entire life. It would take some time to get used to having most if not all aspects of my economic life entirely presided over by the government. While it's true that most financial decisions that affect me are still made by my parents, I like to think that living in a free market economy benefits me even as a young person, and I would hate to have to give up those benefits. So, I can easily see how there would be more disadvantages to a planned economy than advantages, especially for a person who values freedom. However, I can see that there are some aspects of life in a planned economy that I might like. In view of these things, if I lived in a centrally planned or centralized economy, one of the things I would want is to be able to be sure of having a job and a salary as long as I am able to work. I would like to have the security of knowing that I won't have to worry about the possibility of not having the money I need to live; At least until the government decides I'm expendable. Especially in today's world, occupations can prove difficult to obtain and keep, even for those who have a background of experience and education that makes them more qualified than others for a particular job. It is a concern of mine and my siblings that we will not be able to secure reliable jobs after finishing college, so it would be reassuring to know that I would mostly be guaranteed a job, even if specified and supervised by the government. I have k...... half of the paper ......ne; it's ingrained in my personality that I need to have some power and authority to be content. Therefore, I would resent being considered economically equal to others in all situations, because that would mean that no matter how hard I worked and how successful I was at my job, in the eyes of the government I would be equal to everyone else, even those who worked to the minimum of their ability and showed no determination to make something greater of themselves. Therefore, after studying what it means to live in a planned economy, I have decided that life spent as a citizen in a centrally planned economy would be predominantly disadvantageous, with a scattered sprinkling of advantages few, far between, and overshadowed by being fully beneficial on the part of the economic system. supremacy of a government that also exercises control over the personal life of each individual.
