Three ways abnormal psychology can be defined are behavioral, medical, and cognitive. The behavioral approach to abnormal psychology focuses on observable behaviors; the medical approach focuses on the biological causes of mental illness and the third, the cognitive approach, emphasizes how internal thoughts and reasoning contribute to psychological disorders. Psychologists in this field diagnose such disorders and aim to find treatment in the process. In the case of 37-year-old Tamara, major depression, suppression and client-centered therapy can all be classified into abnormal psychology to diagnose and treat Tamara's disorder, hoping to find healthy measures. Tamara has been going through difficult times recently. It's been more than three months since her husband left her and the divorce paperwork is being processed. She feels sad, angry and betrayed. She is deeply worried about her two children. He needs help, and he needs it now. The psychological disorder Tamara suffers from is major depression. Major depression is an illness; is a mood disorder in which feelings of sadness, loss, anger, and/or frustration interfere with daily life. Symptoms of major depression seen in Tamara's case include restlessness, anger, isolation, tiredness, lack of energy, helplessness, feelings of hopelessness, guilt, self-hatred, change in appetite, weight loss, suicidal thoughts and (but not limited to) trouble ...... half of the paper ...... in the brain. While this may not be the most effective form, client-centered therapy would lead to greater results. In conclusion, branches of abnormal/clinical psychology such as major depression, repression, and client-centered therapy are all factors that add to cure and treatment. Tamara. Even though the treatment process will take longer than expected, she will continue to hope to get Tamara well and back on her feet as a strong, single mother of two children. The most important thing to remember, however, is to be slow and steady. With the current advances in abnormal/clinical psychology, psychologists are trying to do exactly that, treat one client at a time and see the difference this makes to the world and world of psychology.
