Topic > Black Swan Power - 874

The Oscars were amazing this year. In a way I learned more about the nature of power through one of the most popular films of this year: Black Swan. My definition became even more solidified after watching this film. In particular, the way the main character pursues power offers a variety of examples that connect to the themes of Ovid, Nietzsche and Rilke in the form of alcohol, art, sexuality and finally his everyday experiences. The film opens with Nina Sayers, a ballet dancer, dreaming of acting as the White Swan. His dream foreshadows his inner aspiration to shine in public. She is chosen as the swan queen for a performance next season, while she must dance both the white swan and the black swan which symbolize different characters and styles. Nina seems to warm up the difficult moment as her body is too cold to dance like the black swan, not being able to seduce the audience. As the story progresses, she realizes that power is losing the self that lives under control or transforms, in turn gaining the power of seduction. Even if he practices again and again, he can barely make a step forward. Only when Lily, another dancer, enters her life, Nina's state of mind becomes clear. Thomas Leroy, the director, once holds up Lily as an example to Nina, saying that Lily is naturally attractive and not pretentious. Nina later set Lily as her imaginary opponent with whom she often competes. At the same time, one of the respected dancers, Beth Macintyre, is replaced by Nina due to her age and appearance. Nina was sad for Beth, but she also learned that eventually there will come a day when the fame will fade. So, she continued to dance, to pursue perfection, and to learn the taste of jealousy... middle of paper.... .. questions that only your deepest instincts, in their quietest moments, could perhaps answer able to answer. So, not only the way she touches herself, but also the value she weighs reflecting her pain, guilt and shame which ultimately leads her to the response of gaining power. Weak but determined, Nina gains this power by the end of the world. movie. Her ability to present herself as an evil black swan and an innocent twin indicates that she has finally transcended herself. On the other hand, the movie doesn't give much detail about how he uses the power after his performance, while I assume that he will probably continue to fight for his career and try different styles that he hasn't tried yet. She would also struggle against her will or against other social conventions, but this power will ultimately lead her to self-creation and transcendence.
