Except PMBOK, my main resources are from these two books and I haven't added any citation yet, I will add it later. http://site.ebrary.com/lib/northeastern/reader.action?docID=10623002&ppg=120 http://site.ebrary.com/lib/northeastern/reader.action?docID=10899796# Part 1 (Ethics and Essay on Social Responsibility) Section A-Argumentative Essay Ethical issues in projects are not created by chance. They are made by people with personal values, assumptions, pressures resulting from personal constraints and interests. It all comes into play when it comes to making ethical decisions. Setting a code of ethics and social responsibility for project management contributes essentially to the success of the project, because it helps the project manager. For example: RAM and resource histogram help team members to be aware of the negative impacts of unethical behavior as it could cause serious consequences for others, project organizational chart can help the project manager to establish a strong ethical culture from top to bottom, as well as continue to monitor and control critical activities across departments. Ethical Issues in Procurement While human resource management focuses on an organization's internal resources, project procurement management will generally focus on the acquisition of goods and services from outside the organization. According to the PMBOK, procurement management usually contains the following characteristics (p224-236):a. Make-or buy decisions: usually compares the internal cost of producing a good or providing services with the cost of acquiring goods or services from third parties.b. Procurement Management Plan: Indicates how the procurement processes will be executed until the contract is closed.c. Requests for Proposal/Quote: A document records how the supplier will meet the buyer's requirements, or a document lists the prices of items as agreed upon by both parties.d. Employment contract statement: defines the specific goods or services to be offeredEvent organizer Lu Chung-chi was arrested and investigated. Since he was the owner of the event, Lu probably faced a minimum sentence of 5 years in prison.3. The person responsible for the lighting and hardware for this event has been arrested and investigated. If I were the event organizer, I would have done two things differently:1. Please ensure that the product usage warning was addressed and written into the procurement management plan when we purchased it from a third party. The contract specifications under the procurement plan should have described all specifications of the color powder to be purchased, including the warning.2. Implement the risk management plan after the start-up phase and ensure that the product warning is addressed and written into the procurement management plan as we have purchased it from third parties. I believe that having a better understanding of project risks is essential for the project manager to successfully complete the event. There are the following steps for implementing a risk management plan:a. Identify risks: Schedule a brainstorming session with all key stakeholders, including the person responsible for all lighting and hardware for this
