Android OS uses Google Wallet and Apple iOS uses Apple Pay. To use Google Wallet you need to have an operating system with the features on it. All you have to do once the payment system is installed on your device is swipe the phone to unlock it and hold the back of the device close to a contactless card reader. Now you no longer have to rummage through your purse or wallet to find a credit or debit card. Sounds pretty useful, right? You won't even have to carry a bag to shops or restaurants anymore, all you'll need is your phone. This is an amazing step forward, but I think there are some security issues that need to be addressed. If you happen to unlock your phone while you're trying to make a payment, your device may think you want to pay and accidentally use your card information to process the transaction. Or what if someone else was paying for their purchase and your device thought it was yours? Another issue I have with Google Wallet and Apple Pay is the vulnerability of our personal information. When you put information on the Internet, access to criminals becomes much easier; in theory, if someone were to hack into my Google Wallet account, they would have all my cards and information, rather than stealing my credit card number at the store while I was checking out.
