Consuming all animal products, and not just meat, victimizes defenseless animals, such as cows, pigs and chickens. When a company tries to make a bigger profit, all morals are forgotten. They do not sympathize with animals and therefore treat them cruelly. According to AnimalEquality.net, “Over 56 billion animals are killed by humans every year. By adopting a vegan diet we can personally save up to 95 animals a year, and thousands in our lifetime.” Animals also have feelings, unfortunately they are exploited every day. No one wants to see their pet, be it a dog, cat or bird, be treated cruelly. Therefore, companies that allow this to happen should no longer be supported. Genetically engineered chickens can grow so large that their legs cannot support their weight. Unable to walk to get food and water, they suffer from hunger and dehydration. “At the slaughterhouse, those who have survived transportation have their throats cut, often while they are still conscious. Many remain conscious when immersed in boiling water in plucking or depilation tanks or while their bodies are skinned or torn to pieces” (Factory Farming: Misery for Animals).
