Main Components of Lord of the Flies A civilized group of British kids find themselves stranded on an island with no adults. During their fight for survival they find themselves facing a beast. While some of them surrender to the beast, others find themselves in an intricate dance with it. More complex children like Ralph are at war in their own minds. The boys attempt to remain civilized by using the conch shell as an icon of power and order. Even on this island, ferocity and corruption are rampant, the pig dance and the masks show the true colors of their internal beasts. Jack and his choir boys quickly break away from Ralph and Piggy and attempt to create their own vision of society with anyone who wants to join them. When the boys reached the top of the mountain during an exploration of the island, they saw something sitting down. They were terrified and fled from this “monster” who lived on the mountain.
